The Los Angeles Rams announced they signed seven of their 10 2024 NFL Draft picks to rookie-scale contracts.
The seven players signed were defensive tackle Braden Fiske, running back Blake Corum, defensive tackle Tyler Davis, kicker Joshua Karty, wide receiver Jordan Whittington, offensive lineman Beaux Limmer and offensive lineman KT Leveston.
The three remaining players who remain unsigned are defensive lineman Jared Verse, defensive back Kamren Kinchens, and defensive lineman Brennan Jackson.
Rookie-scale contracts are tied to draft position, so there isn’t much room for negotiating, though players like Fiske were able to earn more guaranteed money than usual. This is a similar case from last year when Los Angeles agreed to guarantee more money for Steve Avila, who, like Fiske, was an early second-round pick.
Despite Verse, Jackson and Kinchens being unsigned, an agreement with the three rookies should be coming shortly. The Rams held their annual rookie minicamp over the weekend and the players were present.
Of the rookies selected in this past draft, Verse and Fiske are slated to be Day 1 starters, with Corum, Kinchens, Jackson and Davis likely serving rotational roles. Limmer and Leveston will spend their first year developing behind the scenes, while Karty has the inside track to be the team’s kicker for the 2024 season.
The Rams are certainly hoping that this year’s group is able to make the same sort of impact that last year’s class did. L.A.’s 2023 draft class produced several Day-One starters in Puka Nacua, Byron Young, Kobie Turner and Avila.
With Aaron Donald retiring earlier in the offseason, the Rams made sure to address their defensive line by spending four of their 10 picks on players in the trenches. Verse, Fiske, Jackson and Davis have clear pathways to playing time and general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay have already admitted that it’ll be a committee-approach when it comes to trying to replace Donald’s impact up front.
Los Angeles has become well-known for their ability to draft and develop players in every round of the draft so it’ll be exciting to see how this new group fairs in 2024 and beyond.
Beaux Limmer calls being drafted by Rams his best case scenario
One of the more underrated picks the Rams made on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft was Beau Limmer. Limmer tested well in at the NFL Combine and was considered an early Day 3 pick.
Regardless, Limmer isn’t upset about sliding down the board as he called getting drafted by Los Angeles his best case scenario.
