Rams News: Robert Woods Active For Monday Night Game Against Ravens

3 Min Read

The Los Angeles Rams are hoping to come away with a big win in Week 12 to keep their playoff hopes alive. That will be easier said than done as they are going up against Lamar Jackson and the surging Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens are currently on a six-game win streak, including a huge 41-7 win over the Houston Texans last Sunday. Their success has largely been thanks to Jackson emerging as a surprise MVP candidate and seemingly unstoppable force as a dual-threat quarterback.

That being said, the Rams are going to need all the help they can get Monday night if they plan on beating the Ravens. That help will come in the form of Robert Woods, who missed last week’s game against the Chicago Bears but will return for Monday night, via Adam Schefter of ESPN:

Rams’ WR Robert Woods, who informed the team last week about three hours before the game that he could not play due to personal reasons, officially is active tonight.

Woods was a surprise scratch last week after a personal issue arose just hours before the game. He continued to attend to the private matter into Week 12, only returning to practice last Thursday. That’s more practice than some expected Woods to get in this week, but head coach Sean McVay remained confident in Woods’ abilities with or without a week of practice.

Woods has continued to be one of the Rams key wide receivers in 2019. He has totaled 566 receiving yards on 45 catches, but has yet to record a receiving touchdown. He has scored one on the ground, however.

Last week the Rams came away with a key victory against the Bears despite not having Woods’s services for the game. The win helped to keep any chance of a playoff appearance alive after the team dropped their Week 10 game with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In Woods absence, Josh Reynolds received the starting nod and ended up leading the Rams with 55 receiving yards on three receptions. Reynolds assumed a starting role for the latter half of the 2018 season after Cooper Kupp went down with his knee injury.

With all three of the Rams typical starting receivers being healthy this year, Reynolds stats have dipped significantly. However, McVay has still been able to find time for Reynolds in each game as he has appeared in 41.5% of all offensive snaps this season.

In addition to Woods, the Rams will also be getting fellow wideout Brandin Cooks back from injury against the Ravens. He missed the last two games due to a concussion.
