The Los Angeles Rams are enjoying the vacation time they have until they report for training in a couple of weeks.

Los Angeles was able to get some work in during the voluntary workout period and OTAs, but nothing compares to putting on pads and going through contact in practices during training camp. Unlike last offseason, the Rams won’t have to use their time getting rookies and young players up to speed as they’ve got more returners who are already used to the process.

While all eyes will be on the new group of rookies headlined by Jared Verse and Braden Fiske, the veterans on the team like Matthew Stafford will be the key to success once the 2024 season rolls around. Head coach Sean McVay expects Stafford to report to training camp despite his ongoing contract negotiations, a good sign that a resolution will eventually occur.

In an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, running back Kyren Williams discussed what it’s like to play with Stafford and called him a tough player:

“It’s great, it’s awesome. He’s a dog, he’s an absolute dog. I remember last year during the Indianapolis game, he’s literally hobbling to the line and he’s going to go on a game-winning drive. Being around guys like that, it leads you to only want to be great … he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks to play this game. It’s a blessing every time to play the field with somebody like that.”

Stafford has become known for playing through pain and the instance Williams brought up is a textbook instance of him doing what he can to lead his team to victory. The veteran quarterback proved he belonged in the conversation for best signal caller in the league when he led the Rams to a championship in Super Bowl LVI, but has since struggled to climb the mountaintop due to injuries and uneven play from the rest of the roster.

He looked like his old self for most of the 2023 season slinging the ball downfield and narrowly came up short in the playoffs against his old team the Detroit Lions. If he’s able to stay healthy, Los Angeles should be considered a dark horse Super Bowl contender.

Rams Kyren Williams excited to play alongside Blake Corum

Kyren Williams, like Matthew Stafford, had a strong year in 2023 and he’ll have help in the backfield this upcoming year in Blake Corum. Williams expressed how excited he is to play alongside Corum as the two make for a dynamic one-two punch on paper.
