Rams News: Jared Goff Critical Of His Performance Against Cowboys

3 Min Read

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff struggled to get anything going against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15. The Rams seemingly put an emphasis on trying to get their resurging ground game going by feeding running back Todd Gurley early and often. Unfortunately, the offensive line simply could not get any push and essentially put the onus on Goff to make plays through the air.

The result was him struggling to find his rhythm while dealing with consistent pressure from the Cowboys’ pass rush en route to the 44-21 loss. As a result, Los Angeles is now on the cusp of missing the playoffs a year after going to the Super Bowl.

Goff said during his postgame press conference that Los Angeles did not have much to hang their hat on in Dallas:

“It wasn’t good from start to finish. Hats off to them, they came out and played better than us in all facets of the game from start to finish. We could be a lot better, we have been a lot better, and we’ll be a lot better moving forward.”

Goff is hoping that the short week will allow the team to quickly turn the page to get ready for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16:

“Got to win the next two. Nothing you can do but win the next two and it starts one at a time with San Francisco this week. It’ll be a quick turnaround for us, Saturday game and we can forget about this one pretty quickly and move on.”

The Rams do not have much of a choice but to try and win out while holding out hope for some help from around the league to help with their playoff push. Of course, this will be much easier said than done against a formidable 49ers team that had no problem taking care of business in their last meeting at the Coliseum.

Goff has received his fair share of criticism for his fluctuating play throughout the course of the 2019 NFL season. He was seemingly on the verge of turning things around with his strong play in recent weeks until he completed just 33-of-51 passes for 284 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

Los Angeles made quite the investment to secure him as their franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. Even if the Rams fail to make the playoffs, he will still need to show that he is capable of taking over when the offense needs him to.
