Rams News: Gerald Everett Happy To Do ‘Dirty Bird’ After Scoring Touchdown In Hometown Of Atlanta

Los Angeles Rams tight end Gerald Everett enjoyed quite the homecoming during the team’s 37-10 win against the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 7.

Not only did the Rams get a much-needed win, but Everett helped provide one of the highlights of the day with an 8-yard touchdown during the third quarter. He even put on quite a show afterward by doing the “Dirty Bird” celebration in the end zone.

The touchdown celebration was made famous by former Falcons running back Jamal Anderson. It is safe to say that Everett’s decision to do the dance was predetermined.

He admits he was glad to be able to do it in back home in Atlanta, via Gary Klein of the L.A. Times:

“That was specific for just here,” said Everett. “Just something I’ve always wanted to do in front of the home crowd.”

“I’m glad I got a chance to do it.”

Everett added that he is doing what he can to serve as a viable weapon for quarterback Jared Goff in the passing game as he continues to improve each week:

“You see the result of what happened when you stick with Jared,” Everett said. “He’s a great quarterback, and it’s just every receiver’s job to make the quarterback look good.

“That’s all I’m trying to do.”

Everett has certainly done a good job of holding up his end of the bargain in recent weeks. He was able to sandwich together two stellar outings over the last three games and appears poised to take on an increased workload moving forward.

The 25-year-old was targeted by Goff a whopping 10 times against the Falcons and finished with four receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. Although it took them some time to get on the same page, it is indicative of how trustworthy he has become in the passing game.

The favorable matchup against the porous Atlanta defense was just what this offense needed to get back on track following an underwhelming start to the 2019 NFL season. Regardless, it is clear that this group is still trying to establish their identity following the recent rash of injuries midway through the year.

Their struggles have opened the door for Everett to establish an integral role for himself as of late and this could bode well for his prospects moving forward. He is on track for a career year at his current pace and should be able to put up some respectable numbers if he can continue to earn Goff’s trust.
