The Super Bowl hangover that plagues champions seemed to hit the Los Angeles Rams hard as they looked completely out of sorts in their 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Rams were able to keep pace with the Bills in the first half thanks to a couple of much-needed turnovers, but the second half was a disaster as they failed to get anything going on either end of the field. Cooper Kupp was the lone bright spot for Los Angeles as he finished the evening with 13 receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown, but he clearly needed help throughout the game.

Kupp is clearly still the engine for the offense and while it must’ve been frustrating to lose he had a measured response via hisTwitter account:

Reflect. Rectify. Respond.

— Cooper Kupp (@CooperKupp) September 9, 2022

At this point in his career, Kupp’s had his fair share of embarrassing losses and it would be foolish to overreact to a Week 1 loss against the perceived Super Bowl favorites. Kupp and the rest of the offense are working through things with several new pieces, so it was reasonable to expect some struggles to begin the new season.

Head coach Sean McVay also took responsibility for the loss, noting that he needed to prepare the team better and that he would be better moving forward. McVay certainly has his share of the blame for some of the playcalling throughout the game, but the players also have to execute better.

Accountability has always been a strong suit for the Rams organization and they’ve also shown an ability to respond when needed. Week 2 represents their next chance, with the Atlanta Falcons coming to town.
