The Los Angeles Rams came into the 2022 NFL season hoping to run it back and defend their Super Bowl title. But so far, they have done anything but that.

The Rams’ most recent loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10 dropped them to 3-6 as their playoff hopes continue to dwindle by the week.

There are a lot of reasons why the Rams are in this position, but chief among them is injuries as the team has been without a number of key players throughout the season. That has continued in recent weeks, particularly on the offensive line.

Sean McVay gave an update on some of his linemen on Tuesday morning, revealing that Alaric Jackson will be out for the season while Chandler Brewer will miss some time as well. The one positive update is that David Edwards, who has been out with a concussion, could be nearing a return, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

In terms of what this means for the offensive line, McVay said they’re still working through it, but he said he thought Ty Nsekhe “did some good things” in place of Jackson at LT and said they’re “hopeful” to get David Edwards back off of IR. https://t.co/SwJC3rpWTR

The Rams were also without quarterback Matthew Stafford in the loss to the Cardinals after he entered concussion protocol. McVay is not yet sure what his status will be moving forward:

Sean McVay also said QB Matthew Stafford remains in concussion protocol and that they’re hopeful to get more clarity on his status for this week this afternoon.

The worst injury news of all for the Rams is that Cooper Kupp suffered a high ankle sprain in the fourth quarter against the Cardinals and will undergo surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve and miss at least four weeks, although with the way the Rams’ season is going it’s very possible that he does not play again in 2022.

It’s unfortunate how many injuries the Rams have been forced to deal with but that is the reality of the NFL.

Given the current state of the offensive line, it would make sense for the Rams to not rush Stafford back from a concussion so we will see how that plays out this week before L.A. travels to take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
