The Los Angeles Rams couldn’t build on their thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Las Vegas Raiders as they fell to the Green Bay Packers, 24-12, in Week 15.

Already dealing with a myriad of injuries, the Rams lost two more key players in the primetime matchup as Brian Allen and Ben Skowronek exited early with respective calf strains.

Allen was removed after the Rams’ second offensive play and it is unclear when Skowronek sustained his injury. Coleman Shelton replaced Allen at center, and Tutu Atwell and Brandon Powell received more opportunities in Skowronek’s absence.

During a video conference with reporters on Tuesday, Rams head coach Sean McVay indicated that Allen and Skowronek will likely miss the remainder of the 2022 season, per Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Rams head coach Sean McVay on Tuesday announced starting center Brian Allen and wide receiver Ben Skowronek both suffered calf strains against the Packers that are severe enough to sideline them the rest of the season.

Allen exited Monday night’s game after Los Angeles’ second offensive play with his calf injury. It is unclear at what point in the game Skowronek sustained his.

“Both of those guys got their calves pretty good,” McVay said during a video conference with reporters.

Allen is the second Rams’ offensive lineman to suffer a season-ending injury, joining left tackle Joe Noteboom, who sustained a torn Achilles in Week 16. Left guard David Edwards is also on injured reserve.

Allen previously missed five games after undergoing a knee procedure in Week 2. He was sidelined an additional two games due to a left thumb injury that required surgery and swelling in his knee.

As for Skowronek, he joins a long list of injured Rams wide receivers that includes Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. Skowronek appeared in 14 games this season (11 starts), catching 39 of his 61 targets for 376 yards. He also had a rushing touchdown.

In addition to Allen and Skowronek suffering season-ending injuries against the Packers, Rams linebacker Jake Gervase is expected to miss the rest of the year due to an ankle sprain.

Aaron Donald selected to 2023 Pro Bowl

Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was selected to the 2023 Pro Bowl Games — his ninth consecutive nod — in advance of the team’s primetime matchup against Packers.

Donald has been sidelined since Week 13 due to his high ankle sprain but is tied with linebacker Bobby Wagner and outside linebacker Leonard Floyd for the most sacks on the Rams this season (five).
