Puka Nacua has missed the last two games for the Los Angeles Rams due to separate hip and groin injuries, but continues to make progress toward returning to the field.

After participating in several practices this week, head coach Sean McVay said he expects the Pro Bowl wide receiver to be back on the field when the team faces the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Rams head coach Sean McVay on Wednesday said he expects wide receiver Puka Nacua (hip) to play on Sunday against the Eagles (10 a.m. PT, FOX).

Though Nacua will be limited in Wednesday’s practice, according to McVay, the expectation Nacua will play is based on the progress he’s made.

“And that was kind of like what I had told you guys (media) last week,” McVay said. “(He) had a good workout on Sunday, and a good walkthrough just now, and so excited to be able to have him back.”

The latest update on Nacua is certainly welcome news as there was some talk last week that he could potentially undergo surgery if his groin didn’t improve.

That no longer appears to be an option, and the 25-year-old is now set to return to the Rams after missing only two games.

Without Nacua, the Rams relied heavily on Davante Adams and their tight ends in the passing game. While they found some success, L.A. is a much different team when Nacua is on the field.

He caught five passes for 74 yards in his only game against the San Francisco 49ers this season and now will look to pick up where he left off when the Rams try to get back to .500 against the Eagles.

Davante Adams not panicking about Rams’ 1-2 start

The Rams haven’t gotten off to the start they were looking for this season, but Davante Adams believes it is too early to hit the panic button.

“Just stay in it. It’s nothing to freak out about, man. There’s a lot of football left,” Adams told the California Post. “It’s not like we’re not playing good ball, obviously excluding that first game. Unfortunately, it’s… I don’t know if it’s unfortunate, but based on our situation, unfortunately this league is about wins and losses. There’s a lot we can take from a game like this and feel good about. But there’s no moral victories, so definitely disappointed to not finish it out. Just got to get back to what we do and that’s going back to practice and get back to the drawing board and just find a way to finish out some of these games.”
