Rams Agree To Terms With 16 Undrafted Free Agents Including Drake Stoops, Omar Speights & Josh Wallace

The Los Angeles Rams announced they agreed to terms with 16 undrafted free agents following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The players are Ohio wide receiver Sam Wiglusz, Washington defensive lineman Tuli Letuligasenoa, Central Missouri defensive lineman David Olajiga, Tennessee defensive back Jaylen McCollough, Cortland wide receiver JJ Laap, Washington State defensive back Cam Lampkin, Louisiana tight end Neal Johnson, Augustana offensive lineman Blake Larson, Oklahoma wide receiver Drake Stoops, Michigan defensive back Josh Wallace, LSU linebacker Omar Speights, USC offensive lineman Justin Dedich, Oklahoma State defensive end Anthony Goodlow, Kansas defensive back Kenny Logan Jr, Marshall linebacker Elias Neal and SMU defensive back Charles Woods.

Los Angeles focused heavily on their defense in the draft and that trend continued with their undrafted free agent haul as 10 of them are defensive players compared to six offensive players. Of the 10 defensive players, five of them are defensive backs, three defensive linemen and two linebackers. The offense features three wide receivers, two offensive linemen and one tight end.

The Rams took Kamren Kinchens at No. 99 overall as their lone defensive back, a curious decision considering they could’ve used more cornerbacks. Of the undrafted group, Wallace is arguably the most interesting given he played for the national champion Wolverines this past season.

Meanwhile, Speights was considered a decent bet to get drafted on Day 3 but lands in the best opportunity for him to earn a roster spot because Los Angeles didn’t take a linebacker. Speights and Neal might have the best shot of making the final 53-man roster this summer or at the very least make the practice squad.

Johnson as the lone tight end in the group perhaps speaks to Los Angeles’ confidence in Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen to handle the position until Tyler Higbee returns from injury.

Perhaps the biggest name of the bunch is Stoops, who is the son of former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops. He was at Oklahoma for six years and is coming off his best season, hauling in 84 passes for 962 yards and 10 touchdowns.

While the odds are against an undrafted free agent making the final roster, the Rams have been good about developing talent on their practice squad which is each player’s best shot of sticking around the organization. Players like Christian Rozeboom, Alaric Jackson and Michael Hoecht were once undrafted free agents who worked their way up from the practice squad and eventually earned their shot to became starters.

Rams sign Boston Scott to one-year deal

Aside from the undrafted players, Los Angeles also made another move in free agency by signing Boston Scott to a one-year contract. Scott spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles and will likely be behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum on the depth chart.
