Tom Brady officially announced his retirement from professional football earlier this offseason and is even in the process of becoming a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. However, there remained hope that Brady would decide to return to the game.

Brady did a similar 180 last offseason, returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers very shortly after announcing his retirement. However, at 45 years of age, this retirement certainly feels more permanent. It does to Brady as well.

The former Bucs and New England Patriots surefire Hall of Famer and greatest QB of all time confirmed that he has no interest in returning to playing football, listing all of the career goals he’s excited about in the coming years, via Robin Lundberg of Sports Illustrated:

Brady swiftly denies any rumors of him returning to play by saying that he’s “certainly” not playing again and that he’s tried to make it clear in as many ways as possible. He now gets to move to the next phase of his career which largely involves a broadcasting role with Fox.

He also will eventually complete the deal to become a minority owner of the Raiders, setting himself up with some decision-making power as well as a good financial investment on a team in the early years of relocation.

Brady is undoubtedly going to have a successful post-playing career that may even rival the success of his playing career. And there will be plenty of opportunities to look back on Brady’s Hall of Fame career over the next few years.

As impressive as it would be to see a 45-year-old Brady return to the field and potentially go on another deep postseason run, fans will have to enjoy his work in the broadcast booth and in the offices of Allegiant Stadium as opposed to his work behind the line of scrimmage.

Raiders among the teams in the mix for Hopkins

The free agency of DeAndre Hopkins is perhaps the most interesting current event in the NFL offseason. Nearly every team that can afford him should be looking to add him, as he is one of the game’s best at the position.

The Raiders, reportedly, are one of the teams in the mix, but the Buffalo Bills appear to be the early favorites to land his services. A duo of Hopkins and Davante Adams would be a scary side for any opposing defenses.
