Tyler Myers is remaining patient, and Elias Pettersson is likely staying for now

TSN: Tyler Myers and his agent J.P. Barry remain patient to see if any other team will make an offer to the Vancouver Canucks that they are happy with, according to Pierre LeBrun. Believe the Detroit Red Wings offer is still on the table.

LeBrun says that team continue to inquire with the Canucks about center Elias Pettersson, according to his sources, but he thinks it’s unlikely that he’s traded. Inconsistent play and his contract are making teams hesitant. The Canucks are okay with the idea of not trading him now.

“But whether it’s the Carolina Hurricanes or Los Angeles Kings, certainly there are teams that have looked at the centre position and looked at him, I think.”

Can’t see the Canucks wanting to retain any salary.

NHL Rumors: New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, and the St. Louis Blues

Conor Garland is getting interest from the East

TSN: Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland is getting some interest from Eastern Conference teams, according to Chris Johnston. His six-year contract extension doesn’t kick in until next year.

“That includes the New York Islanders, who have been linked to him, although I was cautioned about trying to oversell that. Nothing is certainly done when it comes to the Islanders and Garland but definitely at this point in time the Canucks are working through some of this interest and seeing if they can get something done with Garland before Friday.”

Stefen Rosner: Don’t think that Garland would cost the Islanders a first-round pick.
NYI would be doing #Canucks a favor, with Garland’s 6×6 extension carrying a NMC for the first three seasons of the deal. 2nd (whatever year) & prospect makes more sense.”

Stefen Rosner: Have been told that Tyler Myers isn’t part of any deal the Islanders and Canucks are talking about.

NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers Have Several Directions To Choose

Jake DeBrusk isn’t interested in a Canucks rebuild

Ben Kuzma of The Province: The Vancouver Canucks are going through a rebuild, and forward Jake DeBrusk doesn’t want to be a part of any rebuild.

“I think a rebuild is hard for every player, but at the same point it’s a great opportunity for younger guys,” said DeBrusk. “This game humbles everybody and it’s been a little bit more than humbling this year. Obviously, that (rebuild) is not something I would be okay with or accepting.

“My game doesn’t fit that.”

The 29-year-old DeBrusk has four years left on his contract at a $5.5 million cap. He does have control if the Canucks are trying to trade him with a no-movement clause. He scored 28 goals last season, but only has 13 so far this season, and only two have been at 5v5.

NHL Rumors: Wild, Rangers, Predators, Bruins, and Canucks

The waiting in Vancouver

Irfaan Gaffar: “Myers at this point continues to think about his option(s). I’m not sure how patient the Wings are going to be waiting around. Odds Boeser is moved are low. Garland in play. Little to no action on Pettersson/DeBrusk. Teams looking at VAN UFA’s considering waiting until Friday.”
