Maxx Crosby, Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves at a crossroads with star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who could be open to a change of scenery for the first time since being drafted by the franchise in 2019.

The five-time Pro Bowler did not appreciate how the Raiders shut him down for the final two games of the 2025 season, because even in a lost year, he wants to be on the field and help the team win as many games as possible.

Crosby is also turning 29 this year and has only been to the playoffs once. Although the Raiders have a bright future with Klint Kubiak at head coach and potentially Fernando Mendoza as their starting quarterback, they are not expected to contend for a Super Bowl in 2026.

Las Vegas might decide that their best course of action is trading Crosby and reportedly is seeking a Micah Parsons-like haul from interested teams, via Michael Silver of The Athletic:

The Raiders are asking for a package similar to the one the Dallas Cowboys received from the Green Bay Packers last August for star edge rusher Micah Parsons: two first-round picks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark. That appears to be ambitious, given that Parsons was 26 and heading into his fifth season at the time of the deal. Also, Crosby recently had surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee.

The Dallas Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers just before the 2025 season after the two sides were unable to agree to a long-term contract extension.

The Cowboys got back two first-round draft picks and a three-time Pro Bowler in Kenny Clark for Parsons, which all things considered, was a solid haul.

But as Silver noted, Crosby is two years older than Parsons, and he is also recovering from left knee surgery, so the Raiders might find it difficult getting a similar return.

It doesn’t hurt to put out feelers, and the Raiders could ultimately decide to keep Crosby if they don’t get an offer that appeals to them. That wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing as Crosby is a proven leader who could help the franchise usher in what they hope is a new era of winning football.

Raiders listening to offers for No. 1 overall pick?

While it seems like a foregone conclusion that the Raiders will select Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, general manager John Spytek indicated that he will listen to any trade proposals that come his way.

Spytek keeping an open mind is the right approach as there is always a chance that the Raiders could receive an offer they simply can’t refuse.
