The Los Angeles Lakers have been remarkable in the month of March. Prior to their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night, they sit at 14-2 since March began. Much of the reason for that has been the superstar play of Luka Doncic, as well as the sacrifice of LeBron James.

James missed three games at the beginning of the month, and when he returned, he was ready to take on a brand new role. He has thrived as a tertiary scoring option behind Doncic and Austin Reaves. But he’s still able to lead the way, the way he did on Monday night — with a 21-point triple-double — against the Washington Wizards in Doncic’s absence. Part of the reason for that is the team’s joy playing with one another.

“We’re in a good place right now,” James said after the win. “The chemistry is high. Everyone loves being around each other. We love playing for one another. We love being off the floor with one another. It’s a good tight-knit group and we gotta carry that for the rest of the regular season then I feel like the postseason is a whole new season.”

Defeating the Wizards isn’t anything to celebrate, necessarily, as they are actively trying to lose games down the stretch. But James was one of four players with at least 19 points in a team effort without the star player in the lineup.

“I mean we had a professional approach,” he added. “We came in we got the job done, understanding, doesn’t matter who we’re playing, we’re still trying to build habits for the postseason, so it was a good win for us.”

James found last night that he’s doing a better job appreciating individual moments this year compared to last, like once again becoming the oldest player in league history to record a triple-double.

“I’ve had moments more this year than last year. But I’ve enjoyed more in the moment. It’s pretty cool,” James said. “It’s pretty cool to know that I’m at this point in my career and I’m still able to do those things. It’s super dope, it’s super humbling and just trying to put the work in or continue to put the work in and just, and those are the results of it.”

The Lakers are absolutely enjoying playing alongside one another, and that’s likely making it easier for James to enjoy the little moments. Now, the question becomes if it will translate to postseason success.

Caitlin Clark enjoyed photographing ‘GOAT’ LeBron James

The Lakers had a celebrity photographer in the house when they traveled to Indianapolis to take on the Indiana Pacers. WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark was in attendance, and went viral posting her photos of James.

She spoke about being able to photograph James and how she smiled when the two made eye contact during the game.
