The Los Angeles Lakers got some strong production from their two-way players last season with Drew Timme, in particular, getting legitimate opportunities in JJ Redick’s rotation.
In 27 games with the Lakers, Timme averaged 3.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists on 57.6% shooting from the field and 44.0% from 3-point range. Odds appear to be stacked against Timme in terms of making the 15-man roster due to the sheer amount of forwards in Minnesota. With the likes of Jaden McDaniels, Jonathan Kuminga, Trey Lyles and Cody Williams, they may not feel a need to roster a player like Timme.
However, perhaps he gets an opportunity to stick around in their G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, on a two-way contract. In his short two-year career, Timme continues to look for a home in the NBA after becoming a standout power forward at Gonzaga.
In addition, the Timberwolves also brought in KJ Martin on a training camp contract as well. He is another forward, so competition will be held and they want to bring in more youth. Hopefully, Timme can find success in these next few weeks of preseason activities and catch on somewhere, whether it is in Minnesota or elsewhere.

James noticed how well the former three-time All-American played for L.A. and gave him his flowers by calling Timme a smart basketball player.
Hearing something like that definitely should be a confidence booster for Timme, who has succeeded at every level and is now longer to stick long-term in the NBA.
