The Los Angeles Dodgers just finished a span of playing games in 17 straight days, going 13-4 in that stretch to improve their record to 22-8, which is the best in baseball at the midway point of the 2020 season.

The Dodgers have a rare day off on Monday, although that doesn’t mean the baseball stops as the organization announced they will be live-streaming an intrasquad game at Dodger Stadium that will feature those in the their player pool but not on the active roster.

The group has been working hard this season at the team’s alternate training site at USC. With no Minor League season in 2020, fans have not had the opportunity to see some of their favorite prospects play.

That will change on Monday though as the intrasquad game will be broadcasted on the Dodgers’ website, as well as their YouTube, Twitter and Facebook accounts at 4 p.m. PT.

It’s unclear who exactly will be playing in the game, although some of the top prospects in the Dodgers’ 60-man player pool that aren’t currently on the active roster include Josiah Gray, Keibert Ruiz, Tony Gonsolin, Mitchell White, Zach McKinstry, Luke Raley, DJ Peters and Jacob Amaya, who was just added this week.

When the Dodgers announced that the game was taking place, a picture of Gray was in the announcement, so it can be assumed that is taking the mound for one of the teams.

The Dodgers also have injured players like Alex Wood, Joe Kelly and Edwin Rios rehabbing, so it is possible that they make an appearance as well. Manager Dave Roberts recently revealed that Wood is scheduled to throw a four-inning simulated game on Monday.

Dodgers showcasing prospects?

With the 2020 Major League Baseball trade deadline just around the corner on Aug. 31, this intrasquad game also gives the Dodgers the opportunity to showcase some of their top prospects.

Considering there is no Minor League season and there hasn’t been any video footage of what is going on at the alternate training site at USC, this will be the first opportunity for prospects to show the world the improvements they’ve made during this weird season.

It’s unclear what moves the Dodgers will make at the deadline, if any, but they certainly have plenty of prospect capital if they want to make a win-now move to increase their already strong World Series odds.
