The San Francisco Giants edged the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 Friday night at Oracle Park, delivering a seventh consecutive loss to their division rivals. Powered by three-RBI performances from Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee, the Giants closed the gap in the National League West standings to four games behind the division-leading Dodgers.

Entering the contest as +120 underdogs against the favored Dodgers (-140), the Giants capitalized on key offensive bursts, including a five-run fifth inning that proved decisive.

Willy Adames gave San Francisco early momentum with a solo home run in the second inning, later adding a two-run triple in the fifth to cap a dominant offensive showing. Jung Hoo Lee, who drove in two runs on a triple in the fourth, tacked on another RBI with an infield single in the fifth. His aggressive base running nearly yielded another run, but he was called out at the plate following a throw from left fielder Michael Conforto. A Giants challenge upheld the out call after review.

Dominic Smith also contributed with a solo home run to open the fifth inning, one of several key blows against Dodgers starter Dustin May. May, who had previously defeated the Giants on June 15, struggled through 4 2/3 innings, surrendering seven earned runs on five hits while striking out five. He was tagged with the loss, dropping to 5-6 on the season.

On the mound for San Francisco, Logan Webb picked up his ninth win despite allowing six runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out six. Webb faced early pressure when Shohei Ohtani launched a two-run home run in the third inning following a leadoff single by Hyeseong Kim. The homer, Ohtani’s 32nd of the season, traveled 410 feet and landed in McCovey Cove, marking the 65th splash hit by a visiting player and 171st overall in the ballpark’s history.

Michael Conforto added a two-run homer for the Dodgers in the sixth, cutting into the Giants’ lead and prompting Webb’s exit after he hit Mookie Betts with a pitch. Betts and Freddie Freeman later reached base in the ninth inning against Giants closer Camilo Doval, but Will Smith grounded into a game-ending double play. Doval earned his 15th save of the season.

The Dodgers’ seven-game losing streak marks their worst slump since September 2017, when they lost 11 straight games. Injuries and pitching inconsistencies have contributed to their recent slide, allowing division rivals like the Giants to make up ground.

Looking ahead, Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to make his second pitching start of the season on Saturday. He will face Giants right-hander Landen Roupp, who enters the game with a 6-5 record and a 3.39 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. PT
