Nathan Eovaldi delivered another dominant start and the Texas Rangers’ offense erupted behind him in a 13-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night at Angel Stadium. Eovaldi, who improved to 6-3 on the season, held the Angels scoreless through six innings except for an unearned run, as Texas snapped a two-game losing streak convincingly.

Eovaldi’s performance continued his standout 2025 campaign, as he scattered five hits, issued no walks, and struck out six. With the outing, the right-hander lowered his earned run average to 1.62 through 15 starts, leading all Major League pitchers to throw at least 80 innings.

Offensively, the Rangers broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning after being hitless through the first three frames by Angels starter José Soriano. Soriano, who fell to 6-6 on the year, struggled with command in the fourth, walking three of the first four batters. Texas took immediate advantage, scoring five runs over six pitches. Wyatt Langford drove in two with a double, Evan Carter followed with a ground-rule double for two more runs, and Jake Burger added an RBI single.

Texas continued its offensive surge into the fifth inning, scoring four more runs. Left-hander Sam Aldegheri, recently called up from Double-A, issued three walks in the frame and was left in by Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery to throw 42 pitches. Burger extended the lead again in the sixth with a home run, followed shortly after by a solo homer from Corey Seager, his 13th of the season.

Langford finished with four RBIs, as did Burger, while Carter drove in three. The Rangers benefited from nine total walks issued by Angels pitching, with six of those runners eventually scoring. Seager’s success against Los Angeles continued, as he is now batting .447 with five home runs and 10 walks in his last 13 games against the Angels dating back to late September 2023.

In a move to preserve bullpen arms in a lopsided contest, the Angels turned to infielder Kevin Newman to pitch the final three innings, while Texas used infielder Ezequiel Duran to handle the ninth.

The Angels managed just one run in the third inning, capitalizing on a throwing error by the Rangers to briefly take the lead before Texas’ offensive breakthrough. Soriano, who allowed five earned runs across four innings, lost control after retiring the first nine batters.

Wednesday’s series finale will feature Kyle Hendricks (5-6, 4.68 ERA) on the mound for Los Angeles against Texas right-hander Kumar Rocker (3-4, 5.80 ERA). According to current betting lines, the Rangers are slight favorites at -125, with the Angels at +105. The over/under for total runs is set at 8.5. Both clubs will be looking to close the series on a strong note before heading into their weekend matchups.
