Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Receives Brotherhood Crusade Pioneer Of African American Achievement Award

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Mookie Betts was honored for his work on and off the field during the Brotherhood Crusade’s 2022 Pioneer of African American Achievement Award Dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this past Friday.

The event featured entertainment from Mike Phillips and three-time Grammy Award-winning artist NE-YO. Betts was the recipient of the Pioneer of African American Achievement Award, which is a “prestigious recognition presented to individuals that have made significant contributions in their industry and made an impact in the community by improving the quality of life for youth and families through education, advocacy, and community building.”

“We are thrilled to present this award to Mookie Betts because he epitomizes our organization’s values and believes in taking action to improve the quality of life for those in the community,” president and CEO of Brotherhood Crusade Charisse Bremond Weaver said in a statement.

“Mookie Betts is remarkable on and off the field and aligns himself with organizations like ours that understand the need to uplift others and the power of grassroots action that changes lives.”

The Brotherhood Crusade specifically recognized Betts’ philanthropic work through his foundation Acts Inspired by Mookie (AIM), which focuses on community and food insecurity that has plagued many parts of the country.

The dinner capped an eventful week for Betts, who previously announced that he and his wife Brianna are expecting their second child.

After an MVP-caliber 2022 season, Betts is now looking to improve upon his results by training at Driveline Baseball. The academy is a data-driven training facility that was established in 2008 and has rapidly grown in popularity in recent years.
