The Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting rotation has benefited from reinforcements activated off the injured list, and the same could soon be said of their bullpen.
The return of Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow will go a long way in solidifying the rotation in the present and for October. Justin Wrobleski was added back to the active roster on Tuesday and will be a multi-inning contributor out of the bullpen.
Meanwhile, Edwin Díaz and Blake Treinen appear to be the next men up for the Dodgers’ pitching staff, while Kris Bubic could be close behind. At the same time, Ben Casparius’ season appears to be in jeopardy.
Dodgers updates
Edwin Díaz
Díaz was placed on the 15-day injured list on Aug. 18 due to neck inflammation. The right-hander is in a good spot with his recovery, and he has come out of his bullpens feeling good physically.
Mechanics have been a point of emphasis for Díaz during the break afforded by the IL stint, and he progressed to facing hitters on Tuesday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expects the reliever to be sent out on an assignment soon.
“I would assume another live,” Roberts said of Díaz’s next step. “We did the exercise today, and as we sit here on Tuesday, the likelihood of a light touch and feel, and then another live, and then I would assume he goes out on a rehab.”
Blake Treinen
Treinen was at Dodger Stadium despite not being active Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The right-hander has not appeared in a game since June, but has been out on a rehab assignment since Aug. 18.
Roberts expects the 38-year-old to join the active roster soon, but the day is still to be determined.
“So Blake is in town,” Roberts said. “Had a good up-and-down the other day, so I think for us it’s just more of he’s here and we’ll see when we activate him. I would assume that we’ll activate him very soon.”
The 12-year veteran has not been good this year, but has improved greatly on his 2025 season. He may not be a lock for the postseason roster, but he will be a welcome addition to the relief corps for the final month of the regular season.
Ben Casparius
Casparius has not been able to recapture the lightning in a bottle from his debut season in the Majors. He began the 2026 season on the Opening Day roster, but quickly landed on the IL due to right shoulder inflammation.
He has been sidelined since April 13 and then began a rehab assignment on July 25. However, the right-hander has not pitched in two weeks, and a return this season seems unlikely after suffering a setback.
“I think Ben is shut down for the time being,” Roberts said. “I think we classified it as arm fatigue. So not sure when he’s going to return to pitching here.”
Kris Bubic
Bubic began his rehab assignment with Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, marking his first appearance in the Dodgers organization since being acquired from the Kansas City Royals ahead of the trade deadline.
The left-hander tossed a scoreless inning with a pair of strikeouts.
He is currently on the 60-day injured list due to left elbow and left shoulder soreness, which has kept him out since May 18.
The 28-year-old has been a starting pitcher for the majority of his career, and he was a full-time starter during his All-Star season in 2025.
However, the Dodgers plan to use him as a reliever down the stretch and in the postseason.
