Davante Adams Believes Trent McDuffie Is Best Cornerback In NFL

The Los Angeles Rams made a number of big-name acquisitions to improve their defense this past offseason, but one that has largely gone under the radar is Trent McDuffie.

Cornerback was arguably the Rams’ biggest weakness in 2025, and they addressed it by trading a first-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for McDuffie and then signing his teammate Jaylen Watson in free agency.

The Rams then signed McDuffie to a record-breaking extension, and so far he has been worth every penny. In fact, after watching him up close, Davante Adams believes McDuffie is the best cornerback in the entire NFL.

“He’s my favorite corner in the league after getting here and seeing him work,” Adams said on the Up & Adams Show. “I think he’s the best corner in the league and to see last night was a glimpse of it and I can’t remember when I’ve felt the way I do about him about another corner. He runs that back end and everybody can see what he’s doing and follow right behind, follow his lead.”

Through two games, McDuffie leads the NFL with six passes defensed while also recording six tackles and an interception. He has the highest Pro Football Focus defensive grade among cornerbacks at 93.0 so far.

Adams has been in the league for 13 years and has matched up with every great cornerback there is. So for him to give McDuffie this stamp of approval says a lot about the 25-year-old and what he can do on the outside.

As the season goes on, the Rams will continue to rely on McDuffie to shut down opposing teams’ No. 1 receivers, much like he did to Malik Nabers in the Week 2 win over the New York Giants.

Trent McDuffie already enjoying time with Rams

McDuffie hasn’t been with the Rams long, but during the offseason he expressed how much he is already enjoying playing for his hometown team.

“I’ve loved it here,” McDuffie said at the time. “I always talk to my fiancée (about) just the energy and the vibe that this place has each morning. I’m in the building at 7:00 AM and right away bro, I’m smiling. People are saying ‘good morning,’ people are just happy to be here back in L.A. So I’ve really enjoyed it these past few months.”

After signing a long-term contract extension, McDuffie should be one of the Rams’ primary leaders on defense for years to come.
