Jackson Chourio delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning as the Milwaukee Brewers secured a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field. The win completed a three-game sweep of the National League West-leading Dodgers and marked the Brewers’ first-ever home sweep against the franchise.
With the game tied in the bottom of the 10th, Sal Frelick began the inning as the automatic runner at second base. William Contreras advanced him to third with a deep fly ball to center field off Dodgers reliever Kirby Yates. Chourio then stepped to the plate and lined a single through the left side of a drawn-in infield, giving the Brewers their 53rd win. The game-winning hit marked the first walk-off of Chourio’s young Major League career.
Trevor Megill earned the win for Milwaukee after striking out the side in the top of the 10th, setting down Freddie Freeman, Andy Pages, and Tommy Edman in order. Megill improved to 2-2 on the season and recorded his 22nd scoreless appearance. Yates was charged with the loss, falling to 4-3.
The Dodgers, who entered the series atop the National League West, suffered their sixth consecutive defeat. It is the club’s longest losing streak since April 2019. During this stretch, Los Angeles has managed only 10 total runs, and Wednesday’s loss extended a stretch of missed opportunities at the plate, particularly in the later innings.
Milwaukee tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Pinch-hitter Andrew Vaughn came through with a one-out RBI single off Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott, scoring Isaac Collins and placing runners at the corners. However, Scott limited further damage by striking out Andruw Monasterio and inducing a groundout from Frelick to end the inning.
The Dodgers took a 2-1 lead in the seventh on a sacrifice fly, but were unable to capitalize further after loading the bases. Nick Mears escaped the jam by retiring Freeman on a ground ball to first base.
Tyler Glasnow returned from the injured list for Los Angeles, making his first start since April 27 after recovering from shoulder inflammation. Glasnow worked five innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out five. Milwaukee starter José Quintana was similarly effective, pitching six innings of one-run ball. He did not allow a hit until a two-out single in the fifth inning.
The game began with low-scoring play on both sides and was tied 1-1 until the seventh. The Brewers ultimately rallied behind clutch late-game hitting and a strong bullpen performance.
Milwaukee, now sitting at 53-35, will host the Washington Nationals on Friday. Right-hander Quinn Priester (6-2, 3.59 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Brewers. The Nationals will counter with left-hander Mitchell Parker (5-9, 4.72 ERA). The betting odds for that matchup list Milwaukee as a -135 favorite, with the Nationals at +115 and the over/under set at 8.5 runs.
The Dodgers, now 55-38, will look to regroup as they begin a road series against the San Francisco Giants on Friday. Dustin May (5-5, 4.82 ERA) is expected to start for Los Angeles, with San Francisco sending Logan Webb (8-6, 2.62 ERA) to the mound. Early betting lines have the game listed as a pick’em, with both teams at -110.
