The Milwaukee Brewers continued their dominant stretch with a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, completing a six-game season sweep of the defending World Series champions. The win marked Milwaukee’s 10th consecutive victory, the franchise’s longest streak since 2021.
Milwaukee entered the matchup as a slight underdog with moneyline odds around +115, while the Dodgers were favored at approximately -135. The total runs over/under was set at 9.5, a line that was ultimately exceeded in the late innings as both teams combined for 11 runs.
The game was decided in the sixth inning when Isaac Collins delivered a two-out, two-run single off Dodgers reliever Lou Trivino, breaking a 4-4 tie and giving the Brewers a lead they would not relinquish. The Dodgers narrowed the margin to one run in the bottom of the ninth and loaded the bases with two outs. Still, Milwaukee reliever Abner Uribe got Mookie Betts to line out to center field to end the game, securing his second save of the season and sixth of his major league career.
Brewers starter Jose Quintana allowed four runs over six innings and improved to 7-3 with the win. The left-hander worked through early trouble and was aided by key defensive plays behind him, allowing Milwaukee to stay within reach before taking the lead in the middle innings.
Los Angeles opened the scoring in the first few innings, aided by Shohei Ohtani’s 34th home run of the season, a two-run shot that helped build an early 3-0 advantage. Esteury Ruiz added a solo homer, his first since joining the Dodgers, but the team struggled defensively throughout the game. Three errors, all occurring with two outs, contributed to Milwaukee’s rally. Third baseman Tommy Edman overthrew first base on a routine ground ball, Ruiz misfired a throw from left field that allowed a runner to advance, and Andy Pages misplayed a line drive in center field. Those mistakes allowed the Brewers to score three unearned runs and erase the early deficit.
Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw lasted 4 1/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits. He departed after throwing 78 pitches and was replaced by a bullpen that allowed three more runs over the final innings. Trivino took the loss, falling to 3-1.
The Dodgers suffered their 10th loss in 12 games and saw another key player exit due to injury. First baseman Freddie Freeman left in the sixth inning after being hit on the left wrist by a pitch. His status was not immediately updated following the game.
Milwaukee has improved to 34-12 since May 25, holding the best record in Major League Baseball over that span. With the win, the Brewers completed their second three-game sweep of the Dodgers in the past two weeks, further solidifying their standing as one of the league’s hottest teams.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will travel to Seattle, where right-hander Brandon Woodruff (1-0, 2.61 ERA) is expected to start Monday. The Dodgers will open a series against Minnesota, with Shohei Ohtani (0-0, 1.00 ERA) scheduled to take the mound.
