Beaux Limmer Calls Being Drafted By Rams ‘Best Case Scenario’

Under general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams have been known to chase after proven talent and trade down in drafts to accumulate more capital.

However, this offseason signaled a change in philosophy as they bolstered key areas of the roster with smart free agency signings and largely stayed put during the 2024 NFL Draft. Aside from trading up in the second round to select Florida State defensive lineman Braden Fiske, Los Angeles let the board fall to them, especially on Day 3 when they came away with some value picks.

Perhaps the biggest steal for them came in the sixth round when they selected Arkansas center Beaux Limmer with the No. 217 overall pick. Limmer tested well at the NFL Combine and was considered to be an early Day 3 pick before he slid all the way down to the Rams.

While Limmer will start his career off on the bench, he called landing in Los Angeles a blessing because he gets to work with offensive line coach Ryan Wendell, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com

“Best case scenario,” Limmer said after being chosen by Los Angeles in the sixth round on Saturday. “I mean, he played what I did at a super high level, and he’s gonna be able to catapult me into the next level I’m trying to go to, and teach me all the in and outs of the position. He knows it because he played it. Super blessed and super excited to be coached by Coach Wendell.”

Wendell played nine years in the NFL, most notably with the New England Patriots whom he spent nine years with and was part of the team that won Super Bowl XLIX over the Seattle Seahawks. Originally a center like Limmer, Wendell moved over to right guard for the Patriots and thrived in his new role.

Wendell spent his post-playing career as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills before joining McVay in Los Angeles as their offensive line coach. Limmer now gets the chance to learn under someone like Wendell who knows a thing or two about interior offensive line play.

The Rams needed more offensive lineman depth after they saw Coleman Shelton walk in free agency and released Brian Allen. Shelton landed with the Chicago Bears while Allen eventually found a new home with the Cleveland Browns.
