Left-hander Tyler Anderson pitched six scoreless innings. Zach Neto drove in a run in his return to the lineup as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the San Francisco Giants 2-0 on Friday night at Angel Stadium. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Angels and marked their fourth shutout of the season.

Anderson (2-0) allowed just three hits, struck out six, and did not issue a walk in his 94-pitch outing. The veteran lefty continued to dominate right-handed batters, who are now just four-for-52 against him this season, the lowest opposing batting average in Major League Baseball among pitchers with at least 50 right-handed batters faced.

The Angels’ bullpen held firm behind Anderson. Brock Burke worked a scoreless seventh inning, Ryan Zeferjahn handled the eighth, and Kenley Jansen closed out the game with a clean ninth inning to record his sixth save of the season and the 452nd of his career.

Despite an impressive performance, San Francisco starter Logan Webb (2-1) took the loss. The right-hander struck out a season-high 12 batters and did not walk any across six innings of work. He gave up four hits, two of which led to the Angels’ only runs in the second inning.

After back-to-back strikeouts to open the bottom of the second, Webb allowed a double to right-center by Nolan Schanuel. After recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, Neto, playing in his first game of the season, lined a 106-mph double into left-center to drive in Schanuel for the game’s first run. It was Neto’s first plate appearance since the 2023 season.

Moments later, Kyren Paris hit a sharp ground ball that deflected off the glove of Giants third baseman Matt Chapman and trickled into left field, allowing Neto to score an unearned run to extend the Angels’ lead to 2-0.

Jo Adell provided additional offensive support with three hits from the bottom of the order, including a double and two singles.

In a defensive highlight in the seventh inning, Paris made a critical backhand stop on a hard-hit grounder by LaMonte Wade Jr. to end the inning and prevent the Giants from putting multiple runners on base with the top of their lineup approaching.

The loss dropped the Giants to 10-13 on the season, while the Angels improved to 11-10.

Both teams are scheduled to meet again on Saturday. Right-hander Kyle Hendricks (0-1, 4.20 ERA) is slated to start for the Angels, while the Giants will counter with Landen Roupp (1-1, 4.80 ERA).

According to current betting odds from major sportsbooks, the Angels are listed as slight favorites for Saturday’s matchup, with a moneyline around -115 and the Giants at approximately +105. The over/under for total runs opened at 8.5.
