The NHL’s “Three Stars” of the Week

USATSI_8376765_154224518_lowresThe NHL has named their “Three Stars” of the week, for the week ending February 10th.

FIRST STAR – Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks remain undefeated this season, 10-0-2, and Patrick Kane is playing a big part. He led all players with five goals last week. Last Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks, he scored the game winner. He had three point night against the Coyotes on Thursday, recording two goals and an assist. He finished the week by scoring his ninth goal of the season against the Predators. On the season he has nine goals and 10 assists in 12 games.

SECOND STAR – Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars

Jamie Benn had a six point week in three games. He scored four goals, with two being game winners, and added two assists. Benn scored in each game, and his game winners came against the Avalanche and Ducks. The Stars have won four of seven games since Benn returned to the lineup and sit in eighth spot in the Western Conference

THIRD STAR – Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils.

Martin Brodeur has backstopped the Devils into first place in the Eastern Conference. Brodeur finished week with a 3-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals against average and a .942 save percentage. At 40 years old, Brodeur isn’t showing his age. He has a 6-1-2 record on the season with a 2.29 goal against average. He participated in his 1,200th career NHL game this past week.
