Saturday had seven games scheduled in the NBA. Let’s check out some blowouts, upsets, and a debut in a new uniform for some players.
The Rockets had a 17-point lead but the Wizards came back and stole the victory from Houston. Emeka Okafor drew the foul with 5.2 seconds left and made the go-ahead foul shot. And then Bradley Beal sealed it with an offensive rebound and another free throw. The Wizards survived 19 three-pointers from the Rockets. Bradley Beal had 21 points for the Wizards.
Denver beats Charlotte as they try to keep pace with the rest of the West; they are fifth in that tough conference at the moment. Ty Lawson had 20 points to lead six Nuggets in double figures.
The Cavs took care of the Magic with a huge fourth quarter. Cleveland scored 39 points in the final stanza. Mo Speights came off the bench to score 18 points and grab eight boards. The Magic, at 15-41, have lost five-straight games overall.
Dwyane Wade finished with 33 points and LeBron James had a triple-double (16 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) to blow out the struggling Sixers. The Heat have now won 10 straight games while the Sixers have lost four straight as they continue to fall further from the playoff picture.
Indiana smashed Detroit once again, although it wasn’t as bad as last night. The Pacers welcomed back Danny Granger, though he shot badly (1-10) and had only two points. George Hill had 17 points to lead Indiana in this rout.
Al Horford made the go-ahead hook shot with 5.9 seconds left. Monta Ellis missed the game-winner and Atlanta escaped the Bucks. Horford and Jeff Teague had 23 points each. J.J. Redick had 16 points and seven assists in his Milwaukee debut.
The Clippers got back to their winning ways after a big 36-point third quarter. Caron Butler led the way with 21 points. The Clips won their 40th after 58 games, which is easily a franchise best.
