Happy New Year, everyone! Let’s check out some players who have had great games recently and see if they’re worthy of your fantasy team.
D.J. Augustin (PG), Indiana Pacers
Augustin had 17 points and six assists in their win over Memphis on Monday night. He also started in place of George Hill. Normally, Augustin is the back-up point guard for the team; he just recently reclaimed that job earlier in the week.
The two games before that? On Friday against Phoenix, he had two points, one rebound, and one assist. On Saturday against Atlanta? Three assists but scoreless.
Basically, you have to watch out for George Hill’s health. If Hill is healthy, Augustin isn’t exactly a great pick-up by any means.
Courtney Lee (SG), Boston Celtics
Lee had two good games earlier in the week. He scored a total of 30 points and grabbed a total of eight boards in games against the Clippers and the Warriors. However, he laid an egg against the Kings on Sunday night.
He’s been wildly up and down this season. And he’ll be back on the bench since Rajon Rondo is back in the line-up. For what it’s worth, he’s scored in double figures in five of his last eight games. But only pick him up when you have even worse options on shooting guard. Otherwise, avoid.
Carlos Delfino (SF), Houston Rockets
He had 22 points and eight assists off the bench against the Hawks. He’s also been pretty up and down this season. Delfino also recently missed a couple of games due to food poisoning.
Delfino isn’t as inconsistent as Lee is on SG and is a tad more reliable option off the bench. So don’t expect too many of those 20-point, high-assist games off the bench from Delfino. Again, if you don’t have any other options at small forward, go ahead and get him. Other than that, eh…
Luis Scola (PF), Phoenix Suns
Scola’s minutes have been all over the place but he had a 33-point, 10-rebound game against Minnesota on Saturday night and a 24-point performance against Oklahoma City on Monday night. With the Suns needing more options, I expect them to go to Scola more after those great games.
If he’s not picked up yet, go ahead and get him. Phoenix might try to use him as a #1 option in the meantime.
Nikola Vukevic (C), Orlando Magic
Another reminder that you should go get him already. He just grabbed an NBA season-high 29 rebounds Monday night against Miami. But he had always been big on the boards, averaging 10.5 this season. His offensive output has been decent but you should get him for the rebounding numbers. And with Glen Davis out for a while, his minutes will go up as well.
