The NBA Trade Deadline is only days away which means that trade rumors will begin to swing in full force. The biggest one so far involves two superstars who are no strangers to the rumors in Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony.

Love has never quite fit in with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics have long been an admirer of his talents. The Knicks are struggling recently after a strong start to the season.

There could be a major potential shakeup in the East, however, as Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports that there have been preliminary discussions about a potential three-way deal involving Anthony and Love:

The Daily News has learned that the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love. There were very preliminary discussions with the Knicks about expanding the deal to include Anthony, who would have to waive his no trade clause in order to facilitate a deal to the Cavs.

Discussions were preliminary, but Anthony has already spoken about the rumors, saying that he doesn’t plan on leaving New York in an interview with Sirius XM NBA Radio via ESPN’s Ian Begley:

“There’s always some trade s— going [on],” Anthony said Saturday during an interview on Sirius XM NBA Radio. “I’m not going anywhere […] I want to win a championship. At this point in my career, that’s the only thing that I really care about,” he said. “But I’m not, I mean, there’s nothing out there for me right now. … I’m not even entertaining no trade talk right now.”

Anthony had the chance to leave New York but ultimately decided to stay as he believed in Phil Jackson’s vision for the team. The Knicks scored a major piece in first round pick Kristaps Porzingis and may want to build around him, but Anthony holds total control in whether or not he is moved.

Even if Anthony ultimately decides against a trade, the possibility of a Love deal remains as Boston has the combination of contracts and draft picks to make that work. The Celtics currently sit at third in the Eastern Conference, but could make a leap by adding Love.
